A Special Delivery.

Member: Jane is a customs manager at one of the largest package delivery companies in the world and is responsible for a critical part of her company's international delivery process. She travels a lot, yet provides care for her elderly parents, especially her father, who is confined to a wheelchair as a result of degenerative MS.

Request: She asked LifeCare to help her find her father a shower wheelchair narrow enough to fit through his bathroom door. She also needed to find out if it could be covered by her father's veterans insurance.

How We Helped: Jane's LifeCare specialist not only found a wheelchair, but went beyond the immediate need to identify other ways to improve her parents' lives. This included finding the resources to make the bathroom handicap-accessible, identifying a ramp that could make it easier to move her father in and out of the family's van and pool, finding someone at the ramp company who could help Jane submit it to the VA for payment, and providing Jane with several guides to help her care for her father, as well as information and resources to assist in the care of her mother.

Result: With LifeCare's help, Jane was able to stay focused and still be there for her parents even during times when she was halfway around the world.
